Like so much of Vicksburg, the McNutt House is rich in its own history. Registered guests are afforded a complimentary tour of the McNutt House at their leisure. The large deck shaded by the region's oldest Japanese Magnolia tree oversees terraced gardens for a serene and relaxing setting. In addition to Governor McNutt, the McNutt House served as a private residence to owners for more than 150 years. Located 3 blocks from the Mississippi River's original chanel, it had a clear view of the river during the Seige of Vicksburg. Public tours are are now available by appointment. Visitors are always welcome to take a free self-guided tour through our courtyard. See Lt. Magill's final resting place, a 13" Union Civil War mortar shell that fell unexploded during the siege and of course our lovely courtyard.
