Like so much of Vicksburg, the
McNutt House is rich in its own history. Registered guests are
afforded a complimentary tour of the McNutt House at their leisure.
The large deck shaded by the region's oldest Japanese Magnolia
tree oversees terraced gardens for a serene and relaxing setting.
In addition to Governor McNutt, the
McNutt House served as a private residence to owners for
more than 150 years. Located 3 blocks from the Mississippi River's
original chanel, it had a clear view of the river during the Seige
of Vicksburg. Public tours are are now available by appointment.
Visitors are always welcome to take a free self-guided
tour through our courtyard. See Lt. Magill's final resting place,
a 13" Union Civil War mortar shell that fell unexploded during
the siege and of course our lovely courtyard.

On April 12, 2002, the City of Vicksburg unveiled
its first riverfront mural by renowned artist Robert Dafford. The
electricity of this project spread across the South and up and down
the Mississippi River. The panels of the Vicksburg floodwall are
the canvas capturing the City of Vicksburg's crucial past, present
and future roles in American history, commerce, culture, religion,
and technology. The Murals are FREE to
